Scott,
Fax seed oil is permissible. However, people who have studied it more than I claim that it is so highly perishable (is an oil that is most likely to become rancid) that one must be careful to buy it only if it is very fresh and kept very carefully (I assume under refrigeraton for short times). The whole flax seed crushed is not good at the beginning of the diet because the seed coat is very fibrous and, as you know, fiber can be irritating at the beginning of the diet.
